Who will I be working with?
You’ll work directly with Delia Bornsztein, the owner and designer, from your first consultation through final installation. No handoffs to salespeople or project managers.
Do you only do closets?
While closets are our specialty, we also design custom pantries, home office storage, mudroom organization, and other built-in storage solutions. You can see the full range on our services page.
Cost & Consultation
How much does a custom closet cost?
Every project is unique, so pricing depends on the size of your space, materials selected, and features included. We provide detailed, transparent quotes after your free in-home consultation so you know exactly what to expect—no surprises. For a fuller breakdown of what drives the cost, read our guide: How Much Does a Custom Closet Cost?
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The in-home consultation is completely free with no obligation. We’ll measure your space, discuss your needs, and share ideas—whether or not you decide to move forward.
What is included in the free consultation?
During your free in-home consultation, Delia will:
- Measure your space precisely
- Discuss your storage needs and challenges
- Understand your style preferences
- Share design ideas and material options
- Provide a detailed written quote
There is no obligation to proceed.
Do you offer financing?
We can discuss payment options during your consultation. For larger projects, we can sometimes arrange a payment schedule.
Do I pay a deposit?
Yes, a deposit is required to begin your project. The remaining balance is due upon completion. Details are provided in your proposal.
Do you match competitor prices?
We focus on providing the best value rather than the lowest price. Our closets use premium materials and include personalized design and professional installation. We’re happy to explain the differences if you’re comparing quotes.
The Design Process
How long does the design process take?
After your consultation, you’ll typically receive your custom design within 1–2 weeks. Simple projects may be faster. You can see every stage on our process page.
Can I make changes to the design?
Absolutely. We’ll revise your design until you’re completely happy with it. That’s the benefit of custom.
Do you provide 3D renderings?
Yes, you’ll receive detailed 3D visualizations showing exactly how your closet will look before we build anything.
What design styles are available?
We offer a wide range of styles, from traditional raised-panel doors to modern flat-panel designs. Finishes include whites, natural wood tones, grays, and many more. Hardware options range from classic to contemporary.
Materials & Quality
What materials do you use?
We use premium-quality materials including:
- 3/4″ furniture-grade melamine
- Solid wood drawer boxes
- Soft-close hinges and drawer slides
- Quality hardware in various finishes
We’ll discuss material options and help you choose what works best for your needs and budget.
Are your closets built to last?
Yes. Unlike store-bought systems, our closets are professionally installed and built to handle decades of daily use. We stand behind our work with a warranty.
Do you offer soft-close drawers?
Yes, soft-close drawer slides are available and recommended. They prevent slamming and add a luxury feel to your closet.
Can I get lighting installed?
Yes. We offer integrated LED lighting options that illuminate your entire closet and make finding items easy.
Installation
How long does installation take?
Most installations are completed in a single day:
- Reach-in closets: 2–4 hours
- Walk-in closets: 4–8 hours
- Large or complex projects: 1–2 days
Can you work with my existing closet?
Absolutely. We design custom solutions for any space—whether you’re starting from scratch or optimizing an existing closet. Many of our projects involve transforming standard builder closets into efficient, beautiful storage spaces.
Do I need to empty my closet before installation?
Yes, the closet should be emptied before installation day. We’ll let you know exactly what to expect in advance. (You do not need to empty it before the consultation—seeing how you currently use the space helps us design a better solution.)
Will installation damage my walls?
Our closet systems are professionally installed with minimal wall penetration. Any necessary holes are made carefully and can be repaired if you ever remove the system.
Do you remove old closet systems?
Yes, removal of existing wire shelving or old systems is typically included. We’ll confirm this in your proposal.
How messy is the installation?
We take care to protect your home and clean up thoroughly. You can expect some dust and noise, but we leave your space clean when we’re done.
After Installation
Do you offer warranties?
Yes. All our closets come with a warranty on materials and workmanship. We stand behind our work and want you to be completely satisfied. Specific terms are provided in your proposal.
What if something breaks or needs adjustment?
Contact us and we’ll make it right. We stand behind our work and want you to be happy for years to come.
Can I add to my closet later?
In many cases, yes. Let us know what you’d like to add and we’ll advise on options.
How do I care for my new closet?
Our closets require minimal maintenance. Wipe surfaces with a soft cloth and avoid harsh chemicals. We’ll provide care instructions at installation.
Comparing Your Options
How is Diseño Closets different from the big companies?
When you work with Diseño Closets, you work directly with Delia—not salespeople, not contractors, not installers you have never met. From your first call to final installation, one person manages your project. This means:
- No miscommunication between sales and installation
- Truly personalized design, not templates
- Personal accountability for quality
- A relationship with someone who cares about your result
Why not use a DIY closet system from a home store?
DIY systems can work for simple needs, but they have real limitations:
- Standard sizes don’t maximize your specific space
- Quality is often lower (particle board, plastic components)
- Installation is challenging, especially for non-standard spaces
- No professional design input
- Shorter lifespan
Custom closets cost more upfront but provide better function, appearance, and longevity.
Is a custom closet worth the investment?
For most homeowners, yes. A custom closet:
- Maximizes your storage capacity
- Saves time getting ready each day
- Reduces stress and frustration
- Adds value to your home
- Lasts for decades
