If you’ve ever felt the embarrassment of wearing a mismatched suit or outdated outfit to an important meeting or event, the “wearable computer lab” at the University of South Australia has just the solution for you. “Smart” closets are being developed that will let the owner know important fashion tips like what shirts and ties go together, if an outfit is out of date or season, when clothes need to be dry-cleaned, what clothing is appropriate for the occasion and when you last wore that particular ensemble. With the advent of doors and drawers that open with a touch, voice activated typing, GPS systems, computer-driven saws, etc… is it any surprise that a closet that “dresses” you would be next on the list.

The closets work by using electronic hangers that communicate with RFID panels sewn in the clothing.
